It is one of the greatest experiences in the world and one of the best operators of this activity is Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, a small island just off the coast of Cancun. Chichen Itza is the most important Mayan archeological site in the Yucatan and features some of the most extraordinary structures: "El Castillo" (the pyramid of Kukulcan), the Observatory, the Sacred Well, the Ball Court, and the Temple of the Warriors. During the 3 hour ride through the fascinating lush green jungle, a bilingual guide will explain all about the Mayan Culture and history of Chichen Itza. You will understand why this site became a regional religious and ceremonial center during the early Post-Classic Maya period (900 A.D. -1200 A.D.) and why it was subsequently abandoned.
